About Yachad

Yachad has worked for over 30 years to bring individuals with disabilities out of the shadows and into Jewish communities where their abilities can shine. Though the Jewish community is a much more welcoming and inclusive place today, Yachad’s work is far from done.

Locally, Chicago Yachad was established 13 years ago. Chicago Yachad is dedicated to enhancing the life opportunities of individuals with disabilities of all ages, ensuring their participation in the full spectrum of Jewish life in the greater Chicagoland area and beyond. Our members participate in several social and recreational activities each month. Additionally,  Yachad ensures persons with diverse abilities their rightful place within the Jewish community, while helping to educate and advocate for a greater understanding, acceptance, outreach and a pro-disability attitude.

There are more than a dozen Yachad chapters located throughout the United States, Canada and Israel.

Yachad is an agency of the Orthodox Union
