Dr. Joshua Schor
DOI Medical Director Emeritus

Dr. Joshua Schor has been caring for residents at Daughters of Israel since 1992. Although Dr. Schor has stepped down from his current role as Medical Director this past June, he has assumed the role of Medical Director Emeritus and will continue to see patients on our short-term unit. He is also working with Dr. Muthu Arunachalam (or Dr. Arun, as we all call him), a member of our medical team for many years, who has assumed the role of Medical Director.

Dr. Schor was the recipient of many awards during his tenure here, including being recognized on a national level as “Medical Director of the Year” in 2017 by AMDA. Anticipating the growing need for quality post-acute care Dr. Schor played a leadership role in creating a separate Rehab Center at Daughters of Israel, which opened in 2009. He also launched a program at Daughters of Israel called “Caring Conversations” through a New Jersey Council for the Humanities grant, which brought staff together to talk and share around a variety of issues to promote teamwork, communication, and job satisfaction.  He is also the author of, “The Nursing Home Guide: A Doctor Reveals What You Need to Know About Long-Term Care (Berkley Books, 2008).

We thank Dr. Schor for all of his years of outstanding service and dedication to our Home. He is a true role model when it comes to “Humanism in Healthcare” and we wish him the best as he embarks on a new chapter in his life, at Optum!
