Drugs Destroy Families, Families Destroy Drugs.

Welcome everybody to our 55th Anniversary Celebration. Tonight, we have some very special guest speakers. First on the list is Robert Kent. Rob has been instrumental in forward thinking and implementation of some of the most innovative policies, helping those in need find and receive meaningful treatment. He is a person who cares deeply about people in the throes of addiction getting the proper care.

Second, Barbara Sarnelli, our Legal Coordinator for over 30 years. She is the epitome of someone who cares about getting addicts a second chance. You cannot have anybody better to navigate the criminal justice system. She works tirelessly getting young people that second chance. There are literally hundreds who have taken advantage of this situation to go on and live healthy and productive lives.

We will also hear from two graduates who have overcome tremendous adversity to become shining examples of all that is possible when recovery is embraced. And so tonight, they will be inducted into the DYC ALL STARS.

I would like to thank both Board of Directors – Pat Peterson from our Dynamic Board and Carol D’Auria from our Dynamite Board – for their invaluable service in keeping DYC healthy and growing. The commitment and perseverance of all our staff are at the core of our success.  Thank you team for all you do. We have just begun.

Today, on our 55th Anniversary, we are ecstatic to announce our feature on Empowered by Meg Ryan’s “One Day at a Time” educational documentary series, which will be airing on national television. What an amazing opportunity for us! We so deeply believe with the right approach, so many more young people can find their way to recovery. For severe addiction, proper time to heal is essential. Short term solutions just don’t work. And for many, the ideal mode of treatment is residential, 6 – 12 months. Secondly, a holistic approach engaging the whole person: Mind, Body and Spirit is crucial. Still, too many lives are lost to addiction. We know and believe with the right resources we can do a much better job. For years, our phrase has been: “Drugs Destroy Families, Families Destroy Drugs.”

Again tonight is a night of celebration and community. Thank you always in the name of all those finding their way to recovery. The support that you so generously give keeps DYC going for many years ahead.

God Bless,
Bill Fusco
Executive Director
