Mrs. Shifra Hanon

YOF is indebted to Mrs. Shifra Hanon, who, in her four decades dedicated to the school, has been a cherished faculty member, an honorary Ladies Auxiliary President, and the director of the JBHS Pathfinders Program.

Most members of the YOF community have been apt to consider the humble Mrs. Hanon as the “mother” of the Yeshivah. Her fastidious work day has had no limitations, and she often could have been found sending out emails in the middle of the night. Her care and dedication to the students of the school, and to each student’s particular interests, have undoubtedly made her popular with students as well as a faculty favorite amongst her peers.

According to members of her devoted Pathfinders team, Mrs. Hanon has been an unstoppable force of not only good intentions but of following through on those intentions. Many alumni have hired YOF students as interns--and later as paid employees-- because of Mrs. Hanon’s positive persuasions and keen intuition that play a role in her everyday life of helping others build their futures.

Aside from the many hats she has worn at YOF, perhaps the most important role is the one she plays as wife, mother and grandmother. Her family has been crucial in building and expanding the YOF community, and her infectious goodwill has spread to all of her children, who have become leaders in their own right.

Mrs. Hanon has impacted generations of alumni, parents, and staff members with her ideas, kindness and chesed. She leaves an indelible mark on our Yeshivah and we are so thankful for all of her years of dedication.
