Olam Tikvah - Jordan Baker

Jordan was raised in Wantagh, New York (part of Long Island) and moved to the DC region in 1998 to attend the University of Maryland, and then the George Mason University School of Law. He settled in Burke, Virginia, in 2006, and joined Olam Tikvah in 2009. He is married to Barbara and they have two sons, ages 11 and 7. Jordan is a trademark attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

New to the community and with a 1 year old at the time, Jordan was attracted to Olam Tikvah’s ABBA group, a social organization for fathers of young children. Several years later, he became the ABBA Coordinator and joined the Olam Tikvah Men’s Club Board of Directors and the two groups began to work together. The first time Jordan ever laid tefillin was at a Men’s Club World Wide Wrap event, and he became an active participant in distributing Yellow Candles, helping out in the kitchen for Sunday brunches and shabbat dinners, and doing publicity for various events.

As current President of the Olam Tikvah Men’s Club, Jordan has helped bring the ABBA group under the structure of the Club, to ensure that the organization is meeting the social and programming needs of a wider range of men. He greatly appreciates the of camaraderie in the club and the driven sense of purpose that courses through its calendar. For Jordan, the purpose of the Men’s Club is clear - it’s about serving Olam Tikvah, the greater Jewish community, and each other, through life’s pleasures and challenges.
