Har Shalom - Mickey Burstein

Mickey Burstein and his bride, Robin, are active participants at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, Maryland, where Mickey has been a member for about 30 years.  Mickey enjoys leading services, reading Torah, and reading the Megillah on Purim, in costume, of course.  When the Chevra Kadisha calls, he is always willing and able to help the bereaved in whatever capacity is needed.  Annually he devotes countless hours to rehearsals for the musical productions of the Har Shalom Players.  This January’s show was The Little Mermaid.

In the Men’s Club, he spent several years as V.P. of religious affairs.  He has chaired Men’s Club Shabbat and the Worldwide Wrap on numerous occasions, and he enjoys teaching both kids and adults how to put on tefillin.  Although he is no maven when it comes to tools and construction, he still lends 2 hands, a strong back, and a lot of height to the Men’s Club in building Har Shalom’s sukkah every year.

After a brief stint working for the federal government, Mickey has spent the past 41 years as a personal injury attorney.  We’re the guys that everyone seems to hate until they are tired of arguing with an insurance adjuster.  It’s a daily battle between David and Goliath.

Mickey and Robin have 4 daughters and 3 grandchildren from Gaithersburg to Chicago to Phoenix.  We impart whatever wisdom we have attained, and sometimes it is even accepted willingly.
