Laurie Atlas Silverblatt has been a member of Congregation Brith Shalom for 18 years. She served on the CBS Women’s Board as Tikkun Olam Chair, Publicity Chair, and President, which included representation on the CBS Board of Trustees. At CBS, Laurie was a Chesed Committee member, Mitzvah Day Team Captain, and CBS Collection Drive Chair. She also organized volunteers to serve meals at SEARCH Homeless Services for several years. Her greatest honor was receiving CBS’s Marcia Sheena Memorial Torah Fund / Woman of Valor award. While on the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism Regional Board, Laurie served on the Education Team and as the Tikkun Olam Chair. She is currently serving her eleventh year on the International WLCJ Board as a member of the Resolutions and Public Policy Committee, and now as Chair.
 
In the greater Houston community, Laurie served four years on the Houston Chapter of Hadassah Board, including two years as Organization Vice President. For six years, she also led a Reading and Jewish Culture Club at The Medallion Jewish Assisted Living Residence.
 
Laurie earned an M.Ed. and received a post-baccalaureate certificate in biomedical communications. Professionally, she worked as an educator in the public schools, as a Tele-Health Education Coordinator in Houston’s Medical Center, and as a Youth Activities Director at Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Laurie is married to Alan Silverblatt, a clinical psychologist. Together they are the proud parents of Nate, a data scientist at Microsoft.
