Rabbi's Message

Dearest Adat Family,

Three times a day, as we stand in prayer, we turn toward Yerushalayim—with our hearts beating, our minds focused, and our souls pulsating. We face the center of the universe, the heart of the Jewish people—the place where we all come together as one.

It’s no wonder that David HaMelech, King David, whose beloved home was Yerushalayim, refers to it as Ir Shechubrah LaYachdav—the city that brings us together.

Yerushalayim represents the collective mission of the Jewish people: to live in unity. Over the past year and a half, this mission has taken on renewed urgency—across the Jewish world and here at Adat Yeshurun, where we’ve pursued it with unwavering focus. It has been profoundly inspiring to witness how we’ve come together to embody the spirit of Yerushalayim—as a chabura yachdav, a truly united community.

This Yom Yerushalayim, I invite you to join us at the shul for our annual gala. On this day that commemorates the miraculous reunification of Yerushalayim, we gather once again to reaffirm our mission and to celebrate all that we are building together.

We are honored to welcome my rebbe, Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, a distinguished Rosh Yeshiva and seventh-generation Yerushalmi, who will be joining us for Shabbat and delivering the keynote address at the gala. Rabbi Goldwicht is a living embodiment of Yerushalayim’s values and soul, and it will be a deeply meaningful opportunity to be uplifted by his Torah and his presence.

At this year’s gala, we will proudly honor members of Adat Yeshurun who have served in the IDF—past and present. Our chayalim, together with our Torah and tefillah, are the bedrock of Jewish continuity—true ambassadors of chubrah yachdav.

In the spirit of Yerushalayim and Chubrah LaYachdav, and after we’ve reached, God willing, our internal fundraising goals for Adat of $300,000 so we can meet our annual budget, a portion of the evening’s proceeds will be dedicated to supporting those impacted by PTSD from the tragedies of the past year and a half. As we extend our hands and hearts to our brothers and sisters in Israel, we continue living the values that unite us.

Please join us for the Shabbos of Yom Yerushalayim and for the Gala on Sunday, May 25th. Let’s continue building this sacred mission—together.

We look forward to seeing you there and endless thanks for your support!

With appreciation,
Rabbi Daniel and Brooke Reich
